Plateaus and Work Packages as transformation-control mechanisms
ARCHITECTURE IN PROGRESSSUPPORTED
- The decision
- Represent intermediate states as plateaus and associate explicit Work Packages with movement between them.
- Why it mattered
- A roadmap showing only AS-IS and TO-BE hides temporary operating states, dependencies, and ownership.
- The trade-off
- Modeling intermediate states adds discipline and roadmap maintenance, but allows feasibility, risk, and dependencies to be evaluated before each transition.
- What changed
- Temporary states, dependencies, and decisions were no longer implicit inside a high-level roadmap.
- The outcome
- Implementation is not claimed; transition design remains in progress.
Reusable principle
Intermediate transformation states should be intentional, assessable, and governable.
